Permanent Vacation or Just a thunderstorm?
I like honest people... but not too honest.
I was listening to U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" a lot recently. Maybe due to the fact that we played a version of it in church recently. But I was thinking about the song and the title. We spend most of our lives searching for what makes us happy and fulfilled. There's nothing wrong with that. But we always find things that we THINK meets those needs. It becomes an endless search when we don't even know we are looking.
Imagine a man dying of thirst traveling through the desert. He's tasted water before but he has almost forgotten what it tastes like. He's lost.... doesn't know the way. He's searching for life but doesn't have the slightest idea where to look. But, wait... it begins to rain. Terrific news right? It's what he was wanting all along... water.... But is it? It's kind of like water, but it isn't good for him to drink. But, what is the harm? He's dying of thirst! Just a little won't hurt, will it? Surely it can sustain him for just a little bit longer until his journey is over...... right? So,.... do you drink the water or keep searching? How can you turn down something you've been looking for so long?

Ah, but at what point to you quit guessing that the grass is greener elsewhere and accept the obvious blessing before you?
Thinking + zero hours of sleep = not easy.

so this morning the husband and I were discussing a person we know and the loser she keeps accepting back into her life, even though he dumped his family to move in with her, he never worked when he lived there, he got her pregnant and has been around the now 2 year old child like.... a total of perhaps 4 months?... and now lives with some other woman and her kids... and doesn't pay child support to any of the women he has children with......
and then all of the sudden, what you wrote all made sense to me.
