Permanent Vacation or Just a thunderstorm?

I like honest people... but not too honest.

I was listening to U2's "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" a lot recently. Maybe due to the fact that we played a version of it in church recently. But I was thinking about the song and the title. We spend most of our lives searching for what makes us happy and fulfilled. There's nothing wrong with that. But we always find things that we THINK meets those needs. It becomes an endless search when we don't even know we are looking.

Imagine a man dying of thirst traveling through the desert. He's tasted water before but he has almost forgotten what it tastes like. He's lost.... doesn't know the way. He's searching for life but doesn't have the slightest idea where to look. But, wait... it begins to rain. Terrific news right? It's what he was wanting all along... water.... But is it? It's kind of like water, but it isn't good for him to drink. But, what is the harm? He's dying of thirst! Just a little won't hurt, will it? Surely it can sustain him for just a little bit longer until his journey is over...... right? So,.... do you drink the water or keep searching? How can you turn down something you've been looking for so long?

Where's my oasis? My permanent vacation?

Don't Fear the Water

Wow... over two weeks without a post. Before I got a job I was posting every day. If I didn't post back then, I felt like I was slacking off. So, what do I call this?

My bad... especially to you, Amy. Hope the baby is doing great.

Anywho.... I suppose I should update on the hapnin's.... (which means, "happenings").

The first day of "real" basketball practice begins next Monday. I am so much more prepared compared to this time last year. I was scared to death. I didn't know what I was doing. Well, I may still not know what I'm doing, but at least I kind of know what to expect. So, that gives me a little comfort.

I had to drive a bus route for the first two times in my life. It was kind of scary at first. But you kind of get used to driving a behemoth of a vehicle... until you have to back up on a dirt road... which I had to do several times. It's not fun. Especially when there are 60 screaming meme's to deal with.

I have been ready to move in to this house for a while but there have been a few hiccups along the way. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but all I know is I can't wait. Don't get me wrong, I like the part about not paying rent right now with my living arrangements, but I have a need for my own place. Plus, it will be cool to not have to drive to work.

OU football is in full swing. And boy are they looking good. I never expected OU to pour on 51 points on Miami. They have already moved up 5 spots to #3 in the national polls. I'm excited about this year.

And I just want to say that I love my church (H2ochurch.tv). I actually LOVE going to church. It can be the middle of the week and I think to myself, "Man,... I can't wait until church this Sunday." It's rare for that to happen anymore. So, if you are in the Ada, OK, area, check us out. Or, if you are near a Lifechurch.tv, check them out, too. We are affiliated with Lifechurch.tv.

If you want to see some videos from H2o, then check out our Youtube section.

I'll try to update more often. Until next time, vaya con Dios.
