What do you mean by "playing the back 9"?

I just had a few random thoughts....

I watched the news a minute ago and saw where they had a big gay pride parade/activity today. They interviewed a married heterosexual male asking his opinion of the events. He said that he was totally supportive of gay rights. He also said that he thought there needed to be more awareness of these kinds of things. Awareness of what? Doesn't everyone know that there are homosexuals out there? Yeah... you are gay? Well, thanks for telling us......

This weather we've been having is unbelievable. Oklahoma (along with most other places) either gets too much rain or not near enough. Wasn't it just last summer we were in a year+ long drought? Now we have floods almost everyday in this region... especially in north Texas where several people have died due to the floods.

Tomorrow I will start with my second week of coaching summer league basketball. This past week we went to Lindsay, OK, and played a total of 8 games in 3 days. It was a good experience. I just wish that more people could have come and played.... among a few other things. Next week we'll be in Ada, OK, to play a total of 9 games. It will be a long 3 days but it will be a good experience for me and the girls. I just hope they take advantage of it.

I started watching a new show on ABC called Traveler. It replaced my FAVORITE show, Lost. It's a cool combination of old and new elements. You feel like you're watching some classic suspense show like "The Fugitive", but the technology and the references to terrorism are very modern. The show starts with one event, and then moves both forward and backward chronologically through a cool combination of new events and flashbacks (sounds familiar, eh?). The acting is great and it's definitely suspense-filled.

Anyway, that was random... so I'll leave you with a video of a song that is very educational. Enjoy.

It's like a blitzkrieg spam attack

Have you ever gone to, say, Myspace or Facebook and read something about someone you THOUGHT you knew and immediately wished you didn't read it?

Yeah... me too...

Until we meet again.... love you, Chelsea

A couple of days ago the Vanoss family lost a dear person. A young lady by the name of Chelsea was killed in a car accident in southern Oklahoma. I didn't have her in class but I did get the priveledge of knowing her. I also had her sister for basketball this year, who was one of the people who made it such a fun year for me. Chelsea was so full of life and made everyone around her smile. She just graduated just a couple of weeks ago.

I remember my graduating class. I've already lost a few of my classmates. But it just reminds you that nobody is invincible. When we are young we think that nothing bad like that could ever happen to us.

It hasn't really hit me yet. I think that when I go to the funeral and seeing everybody, then I will realize what happened.

Chelsea was in charge of some of the equipment during our basketball games. But she was a master at it.... but in a way that you wouldn't think. The girls would always get off the bus first followed by the boys. After the girls got off the bus, she would hand out pieces of equipment to the boys, one item at a time. By the time the last boy got off the bus there was nothing left to carry. She perfected this. This was just one of the fond memories I have of her.

If you read this, or myself, just remember that each day is a gift from God. We aren't here by chance. We are here for a purpose. Take advantage of the day. You never know when you will take your last breathe. Did you treat everybody with love?

Until next time..... vaya con Dios.

iLife

For the most part, I'm done with being sick. Good. It wasn't fun. I like the "being healthy" thing better. So, I'm gonna try and do that from now on.

Well... I'm officially a year older. I'm not going to say just how old I am. However, I'll let you do the math yourself (give me a break, I'm a math teacher... I can't just give you the answer). I was born on June 4, 1981.

Whenever someone has a birthday, some tend to reflect on their life's accomplishments up to the present. So, let's do that.... starting..... NOW:
  • Graduated with a Masters Degree in Education.
  • Have a really good job with a great atmosphere.
  • Learned the drums.

...... okay... this could get pretty long. The point is that I've done fairly well for myself. But I haven't done it by myself. There are numerous people that helped me along the way. My family is probably the biggest reason how I can say I've ever gotten anything good done. Being a high school teacher, I come into contact with a lot of young people. I can tell that way too many of them don't have a good home life, which is really sad. I can say that I'm one of the fortunate few that came from a good home life. Sure, no home life is perfect... because that would be boring.

However, at this point in my life, I thought a few things would have been different. I imagined that I would have been married and possibly a few little ones running around. Then again, when I was in high school I never would have seen myself as a teacher. Sometimes you buy an apple from Life and it hands you back a lemon. You don't always get what you expect.

Now... what does life have in store for me?
