You are one sick snow storm

I'm sick. Not in the perverted sense, but in the cough-cough-I-think-I-am-going-to-die sense. I will say, however, that I'm much better than I was yesterday. Yesterday was spent sleeping.... and that's about it. I would have watched tv but there was nothing on. Oh, and you know you are sick when you finally get out of bed, sit down in front of the tv and just stare at it for several minutes before you realize that the tv hasn't been turned on. Either I was sick or just dumber than usual. And please, no comments or answers to that previous sentence.
I've also been peeling (like ANY of you wanted to know that). I got a sunburn from watching a baseball game last Thursday and now it's time for the peeling ceremony. It's guarenteed to make people give you a second look like you have some kind of skin disease. I also got it on my scalp because I wasn't smart enough to wear a hat. So, everytime my head iches and I go to scratch it, it looks like a dandruff blizzard over the state of me.
Okay, I've told you two things that nobody really wanted to know about, but hey, what are blogs for anyway? Nothing serious ever gets put on here, right?

Beware of Cat

Right off the bat, isn't this scary? Especially for dogs.

Even more scary is that I used this picture in one of my Geometry lessons. On our Smartboard, I showed the title of the lesson (Surface Areas of Prisms and Cylinders) and with it pictures of cylinders and prisms. Then I thought, "This is missing something....." Naturally, I went with The Sniper Cat. ..... and.... uh...... why are you looking at me like that?

Lightning Crashes

Storm season. I love stormy weather. Literally. It's not a metaphor for loving people in distress. I love this time of year.

I've wondered why I find storms fascinating. What is it about clouds, rain, wind, fronts, and everything involved?

For most of my life I thought I was going to be a meteorologist. What I really wanted to do was be a storm chaser. To be right there, up-close, in the eye of danger, was exciting to me. Every time there was a storm being covered on TV by the local media, I was glued to the screen. If a storm was coming straight where I was located, I would never freak out and search for shelter. I would do what a lot of southerners would do: go outside and look at the sky. Most of us Oklahomans believe that tornado sirens means to go get your camera and go outside. While that is mostly true, I really do go outside in the thick of it all, look up, and just stand there in awe.

I think one of the reasons why I like the weather so much is that it's a display of God's power and beauty. Have you ever seen a towering thunderstorm a hundred miles away? Especially when there is lightning involved. It's breathtaking, isn't it? Ever seen a tornado's destructive power in person? Simply amazing what an invisible force can do!

...... Simply amazing what an "invisible" force can do......

What are you listening to?

What is it about music? Why do certain people like certain music? Are some people genetically dispositioned to like a particular genre or style of music? Why do I like rock? Why do I strongly dislike rap and country? I know some of the reasons have to do with environment. Even ethnic groups and cultures usually have "their" style above others. (that's not a racism thing, by the way).

I love how music can strongly influence a persons life. Then again, I hate how it does the same thing. Postivie, powerful music can do wonders for a person. Angry, destructive, negative music can almost ruin. So, nobody can say music doesn't mean anything. Music has the power to move and motivate. Now, I have to ask,... what are YOU listening to?

Are you....?

One of my favorite things about people is authenticity.... when they are genuine. And I love being with those kind of people because they allow me to be genuine. I can be who I am. Not somebody or something that THEY want me to be. I'm not saying I intentionally put on a show for certain people. With genuine people, you are unihibited and free to act yourself. I LOVE THAT! And the sad thing is that there are too few of these authentic people around.

Lately, I have been getting to know one of these terrific people. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to get to know this person. Without knowing, this person encourages me to be real. Of course, I fail constantly.

What is one of your favorite qualities about people? Is that particular characteristic a part of you?
