The Ring of Texas

It seems only fitting that it's storming today. You see, today I found out that I will have to be moving in the next couple of months. I saw it coming however. It was almost too good to be true. Like I said before, we hired a new superintendent and him and his family will be moving into the house I live in now. The house is owned by the school so I guess they can rent it to whomever they please. I can't complain too much because, well, the new tennets will be my future boss. So, I respect the decision. Besides, I can't do anything about it anyway.

So, I am now searching.... again. I have a place or two in mind. I just have to make a couple of calls and do some gandering.

The bad news is that I can't take advantage of just walking home to get something. I now am forced to be prepared and bring stuff in advance. Maybe this is God's way of making me be better organized... or organized period. I am lacking in that department.

In other news, my NCAA bracket is, like every other year, almost gone to crap. I still have my champion in the Final Four (UCLA). I also picked Kansas to play in the championship game. I depended on Texas to get there and they didn't. Look at what happens when I depend on Texas. They screw me over.

This was written on a stall door of a bathroom in Oklahoma:
Here I sit, buns-a-flexin',
About to give birth, to another Texan.
Until next time, vaya con Dios.

What did the first 16 takes look like?

For the last week or so, I've had "Here It Goes Again" by OK GO in my head. Fortunately, it's a terrific song to have stuck in your head. And I know most of the lyrics. More aggrivating is when you have a song stuck in your head where you know very few of the lyrics. Or when you barely know much of the song at all and your just humming and repeating a 3 second clip of the song. And what if it's a song you hate? That's the worst.

One of the best music videos "out there" is the video for "Here it goes again." In case you haven't seen it, here is your chance:

If you haven't seen this video, then you probably have been living in a cave for the past couple of years.... or Wyoming. I read where they got the finished form of the video on the 17th try. Makes me wonder how the previous ones looked.

Our school hired a new superintendent last night. I met the him and his wife yesterday afternoon. Everything I've heard about him is very positive. Which is terrific. Whenever this kind of thing happens, current teachers and staff worry about how much is going to change. Some things are more than likely going to change, and that's because no two people are the same. And I understand that. It's the thing about WHAT is going to change. But I have confidence that he is going to do a good job.

After today there is only 7 weeks left of school/work. And one of those weeks is only two days long. Sweet action. Oh, and I will more than likely find out about what I will be coaching during the next board meeting in April. So, it's a very uneasy time for me right now. A little nerve racking.

Well, that's all I want to put on here. Like I said, I have another blog dedicated to the personal gingus stuff. Bon voyage, potentially damaging personal stuff for the whole world to see.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Update for the gingus chronicles

I've been thinking about this for a while, so I decided to make a separate blog for more personal affairs. I'll leave the not-so-personal items for The Gingus Chronicles. Blogspot has it to where you can make private entries. That's one of the reasons why I haven't made as many entries. Most of the stuff I wanted to write wasn't "The Gingus Chronicles" appropriate. So, now I'll be able to blog about it.

In the meantime, enjoy this:

My Pharynx vs. Kim Jong-il

What an interesting week I've had. I guess it started last weekend where I went to Lawrence, Kansas to watch the Kansas Jayhawks take on the Kansas State Wildcats in college basketball. I was looking forward to the whole experience of meeting Bill Self (KU head coach), watching Michael Beasely play, as well as the whole college atmosphere of The Phog. Everything was going well until I woke up sick Saturday morning (game day). I thought it would be one of those one or two day things. Not so much. Along with a sore throat, I had a headache, muscle soreness, and fever. It put a bitter taste on the whole weekend, although I had a good time. The trouble then was if I felt well enough to go to work. Understand that I'm one of those people who NEVER missed school because I hated the feeling of being behind. The same goes for just about anything. If I miss an event, I hated it because I felt like I missed out on something... even if I knew I wasn't going to like it.

I pretty much decided that I would go to work regardless of how I felt. Well, if I sick enough to where my head was literally about to fall off, then I would make an exception. But how often does that happen? Actually, I don't want to know the answer to that...

So, basically, I went to work all week with what I thought was strep throat. I went through over the counter crap and lozenges like they were the only thing keeping me alive... which they very well may have. But I was miserable the whole time. And being the stubborn person I am, decided that I could just wait it out. But that never happened. It kept getting worse.

Friday night, I decided that I couldn't take the torture any more. Keep in mind this was the worst sore throat I've even had. And no normal sore throat should last a week straight, and for that matter, get worse over time. I was getting worried. I decided that the only place for me to go was the E.R. No, not the crappy tv show, the actual E.R. Sure it wasn't your everyday emergency. But at this time I ran out of options. The pain was too severe for my weak self. Every time I would swallow, I would have to induce some other kind of pain so I couldn't feel my throat so much. Most of the time I was punching myself in the head. If anyone else saw me, I'm sure they thought I was mental and would suggest me go to another hospital instead.

So I spent about 2 hours in the ER waiting my turn only to find out the doctor's diagnosis: "Yep, you have a sore throat."

I wanted to punch him in the face. Well, breathe on him, then punch him the face. Actually, they told me I have Pharyngitis, which is a fancy word for "sore throat". But I may have strep, but they won't know for sure until they get the test results back.

But I got meds yesterday morning, and they are already working. They made me feel much better even by Saturday afternoon. This was something I should have done days ago. I'm a guy. I'm stubborn. Go figure.

But you know what my main reasoning behind going to the hospital Friday night? I had a date the next night and I wasn't going to let ANYTHING get in my way. A date doesn't happen very often for me, and only a nuclear war was going to stop it.
