There's a pile up on the ocean I-40

Another year has begun. Not a calender year, but a school year. I was more ready for this year that the previous two. Why? Well, the time leading up to my first year I was a nervous wreck. And when I say "wreck", I mean like a massive collision.... with semi's, trucks with trailers, airplanes, and aircraft carriers. (I don't know where all these vehicles would meet together to cause a wreck, but that goes just to show the grand scheme of things.)

With a new school year brings so many things. This particular year we have a new boss (which is always scary at first). But that has gone very well so far. There are also new students. Trying to get them oriented to my teaching style and philosophy as well as getting them acquainted and comfortable with a new school. Then there's the familiar students. Those that you know with those that you have had already in class. I have changed a few things that I am doing so having them adjust to that will be challenging. Each year brings new challenges. But I look forward to them to make this year better than the last.

I can't tell you how much I have learned since I entered the teaching profession. I have always had the very common fear of speaking in public. While unfamiliar situations still put me very much on edge, I have become much more comfortable speaking in front of others. I am far from being seasoned. I still have much to learn. Every day I learn something new... even if I don't realize it.

So, I'll leave you with a quote. Until next time, vaya con Dios.

"A well-informed mind is the best security against the contagion of folly and of vice. The vacant mind is ever on the watch for relief, and ready to plunge into error, to escape from the languor of idleness."

Ann Redcliffe, The Mysteries of Udolpho, 1764

Zeus and I are pretty tight

Random question: If you luge and you crash, are you a sore luger?

In other news, I found out how to make it rain. Usually people wash their vehicle and it rains, frustrating many. But I also found out that if I simply take my motorcycle for a ride, then it will rain. This process is even more dependable that an indian rain dance.

What's the deal with "female problems" commercials airing in prime time tv? A good friend of mine mentioned how these ads should show on Lifetime or something like that. Besides, only females watch that network. Even the, uh.... feminine males won't watch anything on Lifetime. No further comment.

Whenever I decide to blog I can never think of something to write about. During the week, I may find myself in a situation that I think would be "blog-worthy". But, when I finally sit down to update, everything escapes me. I have a recurring case of writer's blog.

This Wednesday is the first day of prison... uh... I mean school. So, wish me well.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.
