U.S.A.D.D

Usually this is the point in the post where I comment on how I haven't posted anything in a long time. Then I usually talk about how work is going. Then that's it. Just to be different, I'll try not to mention anything about that stuff... except for one thing... but I'll keep that until the end.

Last night I played in an alumni basketball game. This is my second one to attend. Then again, this is the second one they've ever had, so I guess I've been to all of them. Anyway, I played last night and afterwards was the first time in perhaps 7 years that I was in bed before midnight. I only played about 2 quarters and I felt like somebody was continually beating my chest with a sledgehammer. You never know how bad out-of-shape you are in until you... well... actually do something. On a brighter note, I scored 8 points (two 3's and a lay-up), and had a pretty lucky assist (a behind the back pass... it was like the hail mary of basketball). They divided us up into the classes that graduated on an even year and those who graduated on an odd year. Fortunately, the class that graduated 3 seniors on our state championship team was on my team. And we won by around 20 or so. It was fun, despite the horrible realization that I'm old and decrepid.

My first basketball games are this week. My junior high plays this Thursday and the high school plays this Friday. So, if you aren't doing anything and want to see my teams (hopefully) win, then come on out and watch some basketball. I know many of my friends who haven't seen a certain coach yet, so that certain coach is still waiting for such friends to attend..... hint hint...

I have been moved in to my house for a week now. It's a lot different but I like it. The worst part is not having cable (or DirecTV, in my case). All I have is a lousy antenna that only (barely) gets the crappy stations (that's KTEN, for those who know what I'm talking about). But it's nice. I have a new couch and loveseat, which made broke me, but it's microfiber, so it's worth it. But not having to drive to work is even nicer that I expected. That's how I get sympathy from some people: I tell them that I have to walk to work.

Last thing... My cousin has a band called Stereothump. They just released their first album called U.S.A.D.D. They have a myspace page, so look them up, and for those in the Ada area, I don't know where you can find their album right now, but I know there are some copies at H2ochurch. It's really good,... and I'm not just saying that because I have a connection. Really... just listen to it...

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

This is uncomfortable...

My, how time flies.

Already, a fourth of the school year is over with. And really, the quick part of the year hasn't even started yet. When November rolls around, I'll be a hectic mess of chaos. Not only will I still be imparting math-like wisdom to my students, but I'll also be coaching it up in basketball. Our first game is November 1st. But, considering I not only coach junior high, but also the j.v. squad, the freshmen, on top of being the assistant for the high school, I will have something going on every night for several weeks. Hopefully I'll have enough time to take a shower or ... I don't know,... eat?

I bought a new grill for my truck. Let me tell ya... it's bad .... (you know, one of those ''good" kind of "bad"). And that makes me wonder.... when some say bad is good... how come good never became bad? Consider this conversation:

Man: Whoa.... you look GOOD!
Woman: (blushes).... Thanks!
Man: Uh.... This is awkward,... I meant you look like crap.
Woman: .............................

Since when did "bad" become "good"?

Well, I now have a refridgerator in MY house. That sounds weird: My house. Anyway, since the school owns the house, they decided to get a refridgerator to put in there. Which is terrific because I was planning on buying my own. I can now use that money on buying those sweet nunchucks I had my eye on.

Until next time, vaya con Dios. And Go Sooners!

Let's Do This... I'm a cashew

There are good days and bad days. This is a good day.

OU beat Texas. Oklahoma State lost. US-freakin-C lost. And what would have made this an even better day is if LSU would have lost.

And speaking of OU/Texas, what a game that was. It was arguably the most competitive OU/Texas game since Stoops took the reigns as head coach. Obviously, I'm happy with the OUtcome, so that makes it even sweeter.

Once again, I realize that I haven't updated in a long time, so just enjoy it, okay?

I am in the process of moving into a house right next to where I work. So, not only do I not have to drive to work, I can go home and eat lunch instead of the wonderful array of soy-based "food" products. The only thing from keeping me from moving everything in in the next couple of days is the fact there is a few things being repaired in the house. I can't wait until everything is finally done and moved.

And what would a post on here be without me mentioning work? I'm glad you asked! Since after-school practices have started, I have been more tired than normal (makes sense, right?). We have been going for as long as 6 o'clock in the p.m. It's a long day for me. But, you know what? I enjoy it. And our first game will be here before I know it (November 1st for my junior high). I'm excited to see how we will do this season. I think we can be as good as we want to be. They probably don't realize how good they are or could be. I hope they take full advantage of their talents.

My junior high girls will be a fun group to watch this year. Already I'm excited to see how they will do as well. It will be fun.

Teaching math is going easier this year compared to last. Mainly because I have a year of experience under my belt (even though I don't wear belts). It may have a little bit to do with the OU flag I put in my room as well.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.
