Lag Alleviation Post or What comes after 299?

Since I'm a workin' man now, I find it difficult to update this blog like I normally do. So, here's the update:

Work is getting a little better. It's still frustrating a lot of the times, but it's getting better. I have a better understanding of what I'm doing but it's still tough. Every Monday I can't wait 'til the weekend... especially now since football season is upon us.

There is no activity in the love department. I guess I have to fire the department's manager for not getting me any gigs. He doesn't know what the heck he is doing. So, I am the epitome of single.

It's always nice to be able to go back to the college and see my friends. You have no idea how much that lifts my spirits. Some days that is the only thing I have to look forward to.

I still need your prayers. This job is still stressful. I appreciate your prayers so far... they have been very helpful, I can tell. Thank you very much.

Hey, guess what? This post #300!!!! So, I want to thank the academy for voting for me. I want to thank the ol' man upstairs.... Ol' man Bob. You like me... You really really like me!

(Cue exit music)....Until next time, Vaya con Dios.

The best title for post number 299

Me so hungry, I could eat long time! Makes me want to headbang.

So, this is post #299. I don't have anything special planned for the big 3-0-0, like anybody cares. But things could change. Who knows?

Football season is quickly approaching. One week away until OU kicks off in their first game against UAB. I plan on making my predictions on here again just like last year. Also, I am playing a game of sorts with some friends of mine on Yahoo! Sports. It takes the top 25 teams and you pick who is going to cover the point spread in those games. For instance, if OU is favored by 7 points in one game, you have to decide if OU is going to win by more than 7 points or will they lose the game or win by less than 7. Get it? Good. So, you if want to join, leave me a message and I'll get in touch with you. It's free and easy to do.

So, I'll try to post updates on how I'm doing in that league. Every year I either get second place or dead last. I can't win but I sure can win at losing.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Keep your cell phone near you at all times

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker-function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: "Hello"
WOMAN: "Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?"
MAN: "Yes"
WOMAN: "I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only $1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?"
MAN: "Sure, .go ahead if you like it that much."
WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2007 models. I saw one I really liked."
MAN: "How much?"
WOMAN: "$90,000"
MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."
WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing .. The house I wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking $950,000"
MAN: "Well, then go ahead and give them an offer of $900,000. They will probably take it. If not, we can go the extra 50 thousand if it's really a pretty good price."
WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!!"
MAN: "Bye! I love you, too."

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape..... He smiles and asks: "Anyone know who this phone belongs to?"

I read it on someone's blog and thought I'd copy it on mine. This is what I do... I spread humor.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Prison: Day #1

So, the first day of school for ECU. How was it, everybody?

Anybody get homework the first day? Anybody wanna kill their teachers yet? Anybody wanna kill the person sitting next to you in class? Anybody thinking, "Why the crap did I sign up for this class?"

All I have is two classes this semester. One is completely online and the other meets once a week. So, sometime this Christmas, you can start calling me "Master" Kent. Next up... Jedi training.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Unlikely first date

Well, I'm now adjusting to the new blogger format. Blogger now has a Beta version. It appears to be better than its predecessor, but I haven't fully gotten to know the new version. It's like we are on our first date. We are both a little timid... I don't know much about her... I want to know more about her but it will take some time... At least she's giving me a chance.

At appears that the house thing will not happen after all. Things never did go the right way. I might end up staying home. It appears to be the right choice, at least for now.

Only a few more posts until I hit 300. Wow... What an accomplishment....

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

I will survive in my Mach 5

The first full week of school if finally over. This has been a very long week in my life. Last Sunday I was stressed beyond measure. I didn't have any idea what I was doing and it scared me to death. I knew that there were students depending on me to teach them. What kind of teacher would I be if I didn't even know what I was teaching? I'll be the first to tell you that I don't even know a fraction of all the math. (hehe.. get it?... fraction?... math?....) So, I am having to study each night about what I'm going to teach tomorrow.

When I get home all I want to do is sleep. I am all kinds of worn out at 3 p.m. How many kinds of worn out are there? Well... that remains to be seen.

The more I think about it the more I like it. I don't want to say what it is just yet. It will be a while before I say anything specific about it. But, we'll see...

I'm also dealing with another kind of stress right now. The house. I am not sure if I want to move away from the school. I live less than 5 minutes from the school and I want to move to a place that is 20 minutes away? That's a lot of extra money spent on gas. If I plan on making a change next year I'm going to need that extra cash... no, not Johnny Cash.

Keep praying for me. I'd appreciate it. I need it.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Major change

Just a lil' update.

Work is still stressful. What would have happened... what would have happened?

I wonder if I made the right choice. I know I can't go back and change the past. Maybe this happened for a reason. We'll see what happens.

Everybody, please continue to pray for me. Thanks.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Let's get it started

I just finished my first day of "teaching". I passed out the books and started going over the first part of the lessons. For the most part, the classes seem to know what they are doing.

Everybody always says things will get better. So far, the stress has been way up there. I have actually lost weight since I started this job. I didn't think I could do it. I have always been like this though. I stress out about almost everything. I worry about my inadequacies all the time. I worry if I will be good enough. I may never be. Who knows? That kind of stuff always freaks me out.

Continue to pray for me. I have a lot of catching up to do on the math that I will be teaching. So, please pray for my knowledge and ability to distribute that knowledge to the students. Thanks everybody for your prayers thus far. I believe it has helped greatly. But don't stop. I'll need them all year.

Love you people... I mean it....

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Just breathe...

This is one of the longest non-blogging droughts I've had in a while. I'm sure many of you are greatly concerned about my absence.... yeah.

The first week of school was very stressful. It makes me wonder if this is a profession I should be involved with. But most people say the first year of teaching is the most difficult. I will take their word on that one. Tomorrow I will begin the nitty and gritty that is math. I will pass out books and begin teaching the first lesson. Pray that everything goes well.

I've been a wreck this week. I have the worries of a new job on top of worrying about moving into a house that isn't ready. Sometimes I think my head is just going to burst, which would be welcoming at any point.

Please pray that everything works out. I've been worrying about everything and, as most of you know, stress is not healthy. I really need your prayers.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Rock Enroll

The return of the youngins.

Today I am in charge of enrolling the 9th grade students. About half of them all came at 8 a.m. And of course I didn't know what I was doing at first. But I pulled it together. I enrolled me some students.

But I was surprised to get internet access with my computer out here. I must be picking up the wireless connection from the iTV room. I'll take whatever I can get. So, I'm playing music, checking the email, and doing other things I'm probably not suppose to be doing. And no, I'm not talking about porn.

It's now around the 11 o'clock hour and most of the students have come and enrolled. The thing is that we are enrolling students all the way until 3 p.m. What am I to do until then? Here's a list of possible things for me to do:
  • Run a muck.
  • Play hall-Frisbee.
  • Tell minority jokes to the corresponding minorities.
  • Paint my classroom completely black and install black lights. Rave in my classroom!
  • Walk up to some teachers and tell them quietly, "I saved a lot of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico."
  • Staring contest with the fish.
  • Hack into the mainframe and hope that I don't get rerouted into Friendster.
  • Use the bathroom even when I don't need to go.
  • Stare at a wall.
  • Compile a list of verbal assaults that I can use on my students.
  • Finish building the Death Star.

And there you have it. That's my list of things to do until I have something to do that relates to my job. Some of these I may not get to... hopefully.... for the students and/or faculty's sake.

Alright, I'm going to do something else now.......

Don't forget about remembering something.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

The first day of the rest of my life

Tomorrow I will begin a new adventure. Not an adventure like you see on the Discovery channel. This one can be a lot more dangerous. I'm dealing with ..... da da DAAAA..... high school and junior high kids!

Here is a rough outline of next week:
Monday: Meetings.... meetings... and uh... meetings. Did I mention meetings?
Tuesday: Enrollment. I'll get to meet everybody who will be giving me headaches for the rest of the year.
Wednesday: Same as Monday, only different....
Thursday: First day of school. Who knows what will happen?
Friday: Classes will really get started, but, hey... The weekend is already upon us!

And hopefully I'll be able to be moved in by the end of the weekend. I'm so sick of worrying about this stupid house. I just want to be moved and settled in before life becomes too hectic.

This is a sentence. Sense makes no.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Let Freedom Ring

My last few remaining days of freedom are quickly narrowing. I start work next Monday... early. And the first 3 days are going to be nothing but meetings and other crap. I mean that in a good way...

I'm still waiting on "my" house to be ready to move in. I would have liked to have been moved in by now, but no. Dang carpet... I had to have new carpet...

In an unrelated topic...

Now, I'm just waiting. Did I make the right choice?

Bomar is a freakin' moron...

Until next time, vaya con Dios.

Rocky's best friend

Hey squirrel. Don't you know you taste like chicken? Get out of that tree so I can fry you in a pan.

In other news... I'm on pins and needles.... not literally.

Foot-stuck-in-mouth disease

Whenever I go to WalMart, something always seems to happen.

I drive into the WalMart parking lot looking for a spot within a mile of the doors. I settled for a spot in Tennessee. At least I'd get the exercise. Anyway, I get out of my truck and look to the vehicle parked next to me. I noticed that the paint on the bed of this truck looked strange. Upon further investigation, I noticed that this fine piece of machinery was repainted by using a paintbrush. I would have taken a picture if I had my camera. It looked horrible!

So, I get the attention of my friend who was with me and told him to look at Picaso-esque paint job. I say, "Look at this! This truck was painted by using a paintbrush! Who does that? Can you believe somebody would use a paintbrush to paint their truck?" As soon as I said that I noticed that there was an individual in the very same vehicle I was making fun of... and the windows were rolled down.

Then I said in a more quiet manner, "... And there's somebody in the truck...." Now, I'm not sure if you know of the way things are in the southern U.S. of A, but making fun of a somebody's truck is something that isn't taken lightly. In other words, I walked a little faster towards Wally World.

Thanks WalMart for another grand adventure.

Until next time, vaya con Dios.
